Wang Yi stated that since the beginning of this year, the China UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, Strategic Dialogue, and Energy Dialogue have been successfully held. Next, dialogues in the fields of artificial intelligence, technology, climate change, education, economy and trade are also being prepared. The momentum of improving and easing Sino British relations is hard won and needs to be cherished even more. China is willing to work with the UK to follow the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, eliminate various interferences and noise, grasp the steady direction of bilateral relations, focus on mutually beneficial cooperation, and accumulate more positive agendas. In the current context of unilateral bullying, China and the UK have the responsibility to maintain the international order formed after World War II, the international system centered around the United Nations, and the multilateral trading system. Wang Yi said that the United States uses tariffs as a weapon to launch indiscriminate attacks on various countries, blatantly violating WTO rules and harming the legitimate rights and interests of all countries. This practice of reverting state to state relations back to the law of the jungle is a historical reversal, unpopular, unsustainable, and is facing increasing resistance and opposition from more and more countries. As a responsible country, China stands up to prevent it not only to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, but also to uphold international rules and the multilateral trading system. China will continue to adhere to high-level opening-up, engage in mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries, and share development opportunities with the world. Lamy expressed that the UK appreciates the current good development momentum of bilateral relations and is willing to further strengthen high-level and various level exchanges between the two countries, hold regular dialogues on bilateral and multilateral issues of common concern, and jointly address the challenges faced. The UK has always been an open country, firmly supporting free trade and upholding the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core. As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the UK and China have important responsibilities for the sustainable development of the world economy and international trade, and are willing to maintain communication with China on this matter.
