Recently, the Education Department of Shandong Province issued the "Outline of Local Curriculum for Compulsory Education in Shandong Province", further standardizing local curriculum settings, effectively promoting local curriculum construction, leveraging local educational resource advantages, realizing the value of curriculum education, promoting students' comprehensive and healthy development, and better playing the role of local curriculum in expanding and supplementing national curriculum. It is reported that the local curriculum of compulsory education in Shandong Province highlights local characteristics, emphasizes interdisciplinary integration, strengthens the connection between curriculum content and student experience and social life, and cultivates students' core literacy. The curriculum has the characteristics of comprehensiveness, practicality, and locality. The course content revolves around four sections of Shandong Province's characteristic culture, natural scenery, regional economy, and technological innovation, and is designed in three stages: first (grades 3-4), second (grades 5-6), and third (grades 7-8). The course content is organically integrated into major theme education such as national security, life safety and health, and ecological civilization. The design of exploration projects spirals upwards according to students' experience level and cognitive rules, and can cross sectors and themes. Generally, six projects are designed per academic year, covering four sectors. The local curriculum for compulsory education in Shandong Province is offered in grades three to eight through interdisciplinary project exploration, with one class per week and no more than 30 class hours per academic year. It can be integrated with labor, comprehensive practical activities, class team activities, and school-based curriculum, and can be arranged separately or centrally. (New Society)
