"Recently, at the Haixia Women's Militia Company in Dongtou District, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, an AI video jointly produced by the Wenzhou Veterans Affairs Bureau, the Wenzhou Municipal Committee of the Democratic League, and Wenzhou Institute of Technology for the relatives of martyr Pan Zhimin was released, reproducing the hero's voice, appearance, and smile, making people's eyes wet with tears. In the video, the young 'Pan Zhimin' chats with his family in his hometown dialect. The 71 year long 'conversation' brought tears to the eyes of the martyrs' relatives and their group. Pan Zhimin was a member of Anleshan Brigade, Dushan Village, Shuinan Commune, Songyang County. He was formerly a cultural instructor of the Seventeenth Division of the Public Security Division of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and died in December 1954. The family only knows that he was buried in the cave, but the specific location and other information are unknown. Two months ago, the Wenzhou Veterans Affairs Bureau launched the 2025 Martyrs' Search for Relatives Action. With the efforts of the search volunteers, the relatives of martyr Pan Zhimin were finally found (see our report on March 24th for details). To make up for the regrets of the martyrs and their families, relevant units jointly used AI image restoration technology to restore the image of the martyrs, and through dialect dubbing, brought the time and space distance between the martyrs and their families closer. Lin Senmiao, a teacher from Wenzhou University of Technology who participated in the video production, introduced that based on the martyr's posthumous photos repaired by previous technology, they used audio driven expression generation, supplemented by manual optimization technology, to construct a digital human image. During the production process, they repeatedly debugged the model parameters, adjusted the facial details of the martyrs, and ensured that the digital human image was real, natural, and emotionally full. After watching the video, the relatives of martyr Pan Zhimin and his group came to the Dongtou Martyrs Cemetery to pay their respects in front of Pan Zhimin's tomb. Touching his elder brother's tombstone and portrait, Pan Dazhang, who was over 80 years old, once again broke down in tears: "Big brother, it's been more than 70 years since I came to see you. It's not easy. Dad was still talking about you before he passed away..." The leaders of the Wenzhou Veterans Affairs Bureau said that since the launch of the martyr's family search activity this year, they have collaborated with universities and other units to recruit young volunteers to join the martyr's family search team and continue the red bloodline through various innovative forms.
