Xi Jinping Arrives in Kuala Lumpur for a State Visit to Malaysia

On the evening of April 15, local time, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China arrived in Kuala Lumpur by special plane. He is on a state visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
Upon the arrival of the special plane at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abd Kadir, and senior officials including Minister of Transport Anthony Loke Siew Fook, who is also a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, gave a warm welcome. Malaysian children presented flowers to President Xi, and Malaysian teenagers performed dances with local characteristics, waving the national flags of China and Malaysia, and warmly welcoming President Xi's visit.
President Xi Jinping delivered a written statement. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, he extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Malaysia.
President Xi pointed out that China and Malaysia are friendly neighbors facing each other across the sea, and their traditional friendship has endured for thousands of years. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations over half a century ago, the two countries have adhered to mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation, setting an example for relations between countries. In 2023, the two sides reached an important consensus on building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, and last year, the two countries grandly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. As important developing countries and members of the Global South, the deepening of high-level strategic cooperation between China and Malaysia serves the common interests of both countries and contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world at large. President Xi looks forward to using this visit as an opportunity to further deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, promote cooperation in modernization drives, jointly promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, continuously push forward the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future to new heights, and open a new "Golden 50 Years" of China-Malaysia relations.
Cai Qi, Wang Yi, Wang Xiaohong and other accompanying officials arrived on the same plane.
Ouyang Yujing, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, also went to the airport to welcome President Xi.
On the way from the airport to the hotel where he is staying, employees of Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas students in Malaysia waved the national flags of China and Malaysia on both sides of the road, holding up red banners that read "Warmly Welcome President Xi Jinping's Visit to Malaysia" and "Long Live China-Malaysia Friendship". Overseas Chinese performed festive and enthusiastic lion dances to welcome President Xi's visit.
