Given the economic openness of ASEAN member countries and their dependence on foreign trade, factors such as slowing global economic growth, shrinking international trade, and reduced investment inflows may have a negative impact on the growth prospects of the region. The statement stated that the uncertainty brought about by the imposition of tariffs and potential retaliatory measures may exacerbate capital flows and exchange rate fluctuations. ASEAN is closely monitoring this situation and is ready to respond to such fluctuations if necessary.
