The story of Huangyadong, entering the former anti Japanese battlefield, cannot be finished, cannot be finished

In the war years, our military equipment was often described as "Xiaomi with rifle". During the War of Resistance Against Japan, our army's equipment was even more lacking. In his 1937 work "Guerrilla Song", He Luting wrote: "Without guns or cannons, the enemy made them for us..." However, we not only took weapons from the enemy, but also made them ourselves. You know what? During the War of Resistance Against Japan, there was a place where the monthly production of rifles could reach over 400 units, more than 2000 rounds of ammunition could be fired, and the annual production of weapons and ammunition could equip 16 regiments... Where was this place? Huangyadong - located in the folds of the Taihang Mountains deep within Licheng County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. Commander in Chief Zhu De once praised Huangyadong as the "pearl in the palm of the Eighth Route Army". Such a place will inevitably become a thorn in the side of the Japanese invaders. In October 1940, the Japanese Okazaki squadron launched a crazy attack on Huangyadong. In order to defend the "pearl in the palm of the hand", Vice Commander Peng Dehuai personally commanded the famous Battle of Guanjiadong. Afterwards, in order to strengthen the defense of Huangyadong, the Special Operations Division of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters stationed in Huangyadong as guards, and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Eighth Route Army, Zuo Quan, personally commanded the deployment... Despite repeated failures, the Japanese invaders did not give up. In November 1941, the Japanese 36th Division and Independent Fourth Mixed Brigade, consisting of over 5000 soldiers, once again advanced towards Huangyadong under the cover of aircraft and artillery. The commander of the Special Operations Division of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, Ou Fufu, was ordered to guard the position to cover the transfer of the arsenal. Zuo Quan demanded that the troops make full use of the terrain, use defense as an attack, persist in waiting for reinforcements, and wait for opportunities to counterattack. He gave the troops a death order: they must hold on for 5 days! Huangya Cave has three cliffs, with only narrow mountain paths leading to the outside world. The arms factory is hidden between the cliffs. To effectively block the enemy, the Eighth Route Army carefully set up a minefield and defensive fortifications on the mountain path leading into the cave. Japanese planes hovered in the valley, but were unable to find effective attack points; Heavy artillery bombardment and rock collapse actually blocked the attack route! Several large-scale attacks were unsuccessful, resulting in over 200 Japanese casualties. However, the Japanese army was not willing to accept defeat and continued to charge wildly towards the cliffs. So, one heart wrenching battle story after another happened here: 17-year-old trumpeter Cui Zhenfang from the security team guarded the Weng Ge Lang alone. The cliffs on both sides of this canyon reach almost 90 degrees. Cui Zhenfang utilized the natural and strategic terrain, continuously throwing hand grenades, and single handedly repelled more than ten Japanese attacks, eliminating dozens of Japanese soldiers. In the end, he heroically sacrificed himself. 7 days and 7 nights, the Japanese army did not make any further advances! The angry Japanese invaders used flamethrowers and incendiary bombs. Wang Zhenxi and 12 other brave soldiers caught fire all over their bodies and jumped out of the fortifications with grenades at the last moment of their lives, dying together with the enemy; To cover the command post of the regiment, Wen Desheng and three other soldiers led an enemy force to a cliff and eventually jumped off the cliff to sacrifice themselves... After the expiration of the 5th day, Zuo Quan asked Ou Fufu if he could hold on for a few more days and "make dumplings" for the Japanese army with reinforcements! Ou Fu replied firmly, 'No problem, we will complete the task resolutely!' Finally, our reinforcements arrived. The European Wealth Rate Special Forces quickly launched an attack. Our army launched a pincer attack from both inside and outside, and the Japanese army was defeated. In the defense of Huangyadong, our army fought fiercely against a fivefold enemy for eight days and nights, resulting in 166 casualties and more than 1000 deaths and injuries, winning a glorious battle with a casualty ratio of 6:1 between the enemy and us. The headquarters of the Eighth Route Army awarded the special intelligence unit the glorious title of "Hero Group of Huangyadong Defense Battle", and Comrade Mao Zedong inscribed: "The whole army learns from Huangyadong Defense Battle!" More than 80 years have passed, and the smoke of gunpowder on the Huangyadong battlefield has long dissipated. As the Qingming Festival approaches, snowflakes fall and the Taihang Mountains are covered in plain white. The early branches and leaves eagerly poked their heads out of the snow, because with these flowers and plants, it seemed that the snow was not so cold anymore. Zhao Naitang is wiping the tombstone. The morning sun shines on the monument, dazzling with golden light. 44 martyrs of the Eighth Route Army are buried here. Accompanied by the Red Cliff and Ancient Wood Forest, this "tomb guardian" who has guarded the martyrs for 34 years always wakes up earlier than the first ray of sunshine day after day, tidies up the cemetery neatly, and wipes the tombstones shiny. His father used to be a "mountain runner" in the Eighth Route Army, delivering food, weapons, and supplies to the arsenal with a pole. In the spring of 1991, when it was heard that the cemetery needed caretakers, Zhao Naitang rolled up his bedding rolls and carried a pole like his father did back then. Since then, he has never left here. There is a yellow cliff under the Yellow Cliff Cave, but there are no peach blossoms on the Peach Blossom Village. The souls of heroes will last forever, and the war drums will bloom the flowers of victory... "Yang Shangjun sang with his local accent. He is the 'Red Tong' of the Party History Research Office in Licheng County, often coming here to tell red stories to young people. There are so many stories here, no matter how many they are told, they can never be finished! Following Yang Shangjun, the reporter arrived at a farmhouse at the foot of the mountain. Back then, the Eighth Route Army's Military Industry Department once stayed at the home of villager Jia Zhilan. Her sister Jia Pangni became a wet nurse for the child of a military department worker. Later, during the sweep, in order to protect the descendants of the Eighth Route Army, Jia Pangni was pushed down a cliff by the Japanese army and sacrificed heroically. However, the child in her arms survived and was renamed "Jinsheng"... Time passed by. In 2006, Zhai Huanzhang, a security guard from the Eighth Route Army's Military Industry Department who used to live here, wrote a letter to the old landlord Jia Zhilan: "I have been living in your house for nearly two years... now your village has changed too much. The asphalt road has been paved and many new houses have been built. As long as everyone follows the Communist Party's good construction, the future will be better!" Better days have come! Nowadays, in Huangya Cave, the integrated development of related industries such as red tourism, ecological tourism, and folk tourism has made people's lives increasingly prosperous. The mountain wind blows gently, and the pine needles rustle. Back in the day, making rifle butts, grenade handles, and ammunition boxes required a large amount of wood, and many vegetation were consumed and destroyed in battles. After years of ecological restoration, the forest coverage rate of Huangyadong tourist area has reached 93%, with over 300 species of precious plants and more than 50 species of rare wild animals. The reporter strolled through the mountains and fields of Huangyadong in spring, with pine waves ringing in the ears and blooming mountain flowers in front of them. The fragrance of spring grass was refreshing to the heart and soul. Just as the reporter was intoxicated, a bus with the words "Study Tour" printed on it stopped beside him. A group of young people who looked like college students rushed out of the car and recorded their red journey on their phones: "Look, this is the scenery of Huangya Cave, with the battlefield ruins behind it." "The revolutionary old area is beautiful," "I want to try military shooting, wilderness expansion, and water experience." Guo Shasha, the red guide of the scenic area, told reporters: "Last year, Huangya Cave received more than 600000 tourists, with a revenue of more than 50 million yuan. The red training courses covered more than 20 provinces and cities across the country. This is not only the place where revolutionary predecessors fought, but also an eternal spiritual monument!" The mountain breeze gently brushed, and the bouquets of flowers offered by people surrounded the martyr monument, wafting with a faint fragrance, Guo Shasha's voice echoed in the twilight: "Huangya Cave will never be forgotten. Every stone and tree on this land remembers those who guarded it with their lives!" As the dusk closed, lights lit up at the foot of the mountain. The expanded homestay cluster is like stars sprinkled in the col, and the chimney of the farmhouse brings out smoke mixed with the smell of millet porridge. More than 30 homestays and farmhouses have been developed in Shangchiyu Village and Xiachiyu Village along the Huangya Cave, creating over 400 high standard guest rooms that can accommodate more than 1000 people for dining and accommodation at the same time, and driving employment for more than 500 surrounding villagers. Even Wang Fangping, the granddaughter in law of the "old landlord" Jia Zhilan, has opened a small courtyard farmhouse. Opening the menu, there are various types of "hometown rice" available, including mung bean jelly, stewed vegetables, persimmon cakes, and baked noodles. Wang Fangping's loud voice exuded a unique sense of coolness among mountain people: "Many tourists love to eat this bite. When asked why, they answer that they just want to experience the taste of the past!" (New News Agency)
