The second Macau International Comedy Festival will be held from April 9th to 13th in Macau and Hengqin. The Comedy Festival, themed "I Have Happy Events, Endless Joy Together", includes five sections: drama performances, movie screenings, venture capital drama events, joyful nights, and surprise forums, presenting a dazzling comedy feast. The press conference for the Comedy Festival was held on the 18th at the Macau Cultural Centre. It is reported that the opening stage play Peppa Pig's Wonderful Day Tour breaks the traditional stage boundaries and leads the audience into the exploration of Hengqin landmarks; Three stand up comedy performances bring together different styles of humor, allowing the audience to experience the pure charm of humorous language firsthand. The film exhibition section will bring the Asian premiere of Charlie Chaplin's documentary, the Chinese premiere of Takeshi Kitano's new film "Broken Anger," and multiple comedy classics. It is worth mentioning that the second Macau International Comedy Festival has newly established a "Venture Capital Drama Festival" section, bringing the first Chinese language venture capital experience centered around screenwriters and immersive stage performances, seeking new industry forces and tapping into IP potential. Han Mei, CEO of Happy Fried Dough Twists, said that comedy writers were scarce. This comedy festival added a new venture capital sector to solicit 300 screenwriters from the global Chinese market, including those from Macao. Liang Huimin, Director of the Cultural Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, stated that the hosting of the second Macao International Comedy Festival will effectively promote the integration and development of cultural and creative industries with other fields, and create another unique cultural brand for Macao. Macao has been successfully elected as the "East Asian Cultural Capital" in 2025, and we look forward to using this important opportunity to attract more high-quality cultural exchange projects to settle in Macao.
