2025-03-06

The highly anticipated Third National Illustration Support Program (CIAC) officially released its list on the 5th, announcing the names of 25 grand prize winners, 75 outstanding award winners, and 102 shortlisted award winners. The National Illustration Support Program is jointly organized by the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association. It is an authoritative competition for Chinese illustrators worldwide, aimed at discovering, promoting, and discovering original illustration works and talents. The competition was launched in 2022 and attracted over 10000 submissions, greatly arousing the enthusiasm of illustration enthusiasts. Since the third CIAC competition solicitation, we have received a large number of original illustration works from all over the country and overseas students. Multiple creators from the New York School of Visual Arts, Cambridge College of the Arts, and Sheridan School of Animation participated across oceans, fully demonstrating the expanding international influence of the competition. After three months of initial evaluation, re evaluation, and final evaluation by the organizing committee, the dust of each major award has settled. The competition has six categories of awards, including "Gold, Silver, and Bronze", "Understanding Guangzhou Competition Award", "Drawing Guangzhou, Drawing the Whole Movement" Special Award, "Dynamic Illustration Special Award", "Excellent Award", and "Nomination Award". The gold award was won by "Soft Corner", and the 90s illustrator Er Lili demonstrated the depth of emotional expression in illustration art with his delicate portrayal of human warmth. The silver awards were respectively won by three works: Hua Zhangyi's "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio", Bai Nao Hua's "Nian", and Si Ming's "Search for the Gods". Bronze medal winner Bi Xinyi's "Swing Time", Shao Xiaohua's "Gift from Jiangnan", Yang Yunshu's "Wheel of Not Returning", Tian Dongming's "Nine Color Deer", gugudefeng's "The Land of Spiral", and Wen Yuchen's "Grandpa Li's Garden". These award-winning works present different artistic languages from ink and wash national style, Chinese style Paper Cuttings, to modern fantasy, turning Chinese ancient legends, traditional culture and folk customs and urban ideal life into a feast on paper. In addition, the "Understanding Guangzhou Competition Award" of this competition was won by five authors including Jiang Ziying and Yi Yi, and the "Painting Guangzhou, Painting the National Games" track was won by five outstanding authors including Danton Dantong and Hangzhou. The "Dynamic Illustration" track is even more unique, selecting cutting-edge works with unique creative charm such as "Zhaojun Leaving the Frontier" by Weisi Ren. Breaking the limitations of static illustrations, endowing illustrations with vitality, opening up new dimensions for the development of illustration art, and expanding the boundaries of artistic expression. It is reported that from May to August this year, the CIAC organizing committee and GAF Guangzhou Illustration Art Festival will collaborate to launch the "Infinite Growth" GAS Illustration Art Season at the Guangzhou People's Art Center. The award ceremony and excellent works exhibition of the third CIAC Illustration Competition will also be held on-site during the art season. (New Society)
