The Macao Special Administrative Region Gazette, published on the 3rd, issued Executive Order No. 8/2025 by the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, designating September 14, 2025 as the election day for the 8th Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region. The Chief Executive also issued Order No. 34/2025, which sets the expenditure limit for each candidate list in the 2025 Legislative Council election at MOP 3549622. The Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region is the only legislative body in Macao, composed of permanent residents of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and most of its members are elected. The Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region currently has 33 members, with a term of 4 years for each term, unless otherwise specified in the first term. The term of office for the seventh Legislative Council members will begin in October 2021. According to data released earlier by the Administrative Public Service Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, as of the end of December 2024, the number of valid natural person voters in the Macau SAR is 333391, and the number of corporate voters is 783.
