In 2024, the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP in China will be 14.1%, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from the previous year and the lowest level since the official establishment of statistics in 2006. The logistics industry has made significant progress in reducing costs and increasing efficiency. Currently, we should accelerate the construction of a modern supply chain system, promote the integrated development of supply chain management through digitization, and achieve full process management of production, circulation, and consumption in the entire society, thereby further improving logistics efficiency and reducing operating costs. In recent years, China has attached great importance to cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the logistics industry, and has issued a series of policy documents, which have pointed out the development direction and provided policy guarantees for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the logistics industry. The "Action Plan for Effectively Reducing Logistics Costs in the Whole Society" issued last year clearly stated that by 2027, efforts will be made to reduce the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP to around 13.5%. The logistics industry in our country is facing important opportunities in digitalization to reduce costs and increase efficiency. From the perspective of supply and demand, on the one hand, the rapid development of new generation information technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and blockchain provides strong technical support for the digital transformation of the logistics industry. On the other hand, with the rise of new models such as e-commerce and new retail, consumers have increasingly high demands for logistics services that are timely, accurate, and personalized. The digital transformation can help logistics companies better meet market demand and improve customer satisfaction. At present, China is the market with the largest global logistics demand. The logistics enterprise group continues to grow, with over 10000 A-level logistics enterprises. There are over 2700 logistics parks above designated size, and a preliminary operational system of "channel+hub+network" has been formed. In 2024, the total amount of social logistics in China reached 360.6 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. However, it should also be noted that as the market size base expands, the growth rate of logistics demand gradually slows down, and the situation of oversupply in the market will exist for a long time, making it difficult to sustain traditional extensive low-level competition. At the same time, industrial upgrading and consumption upgrading have put forward higher requirements for the quality of logistics supply. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the development of logistics digitization, making it an important lever for cultivating new quality productivity in the logistics field and effectively reducing logistics costs for the whole society. The importance of rules and standards is increasingly prominent in promoting the development of logistics digitization. We should continuously strengthen the openness and interconnection of logistics information. On the one hand, it is necessary to establish and improve mechanisms for collecting, extracting, applying, and protecting enterprise logistics data, and promote the market-oriented circulation of enterprise logistics data elements. On the other hand, it is necessary to establish a dynamic interconnection mechanism for logistics data of government departments, promote the sharing and development of logistics public information data in areas such as highways, railways, waterways, aviation, as well as customs and other government departments, and promote the solution to problems such as "information silos" in logistics. In the process of promoting the digitalization of logistics, we must vigorously support the application of new technologies and equipment. Encourage major logistics technology research and development, promote the widespread application of new generation information technologies such as big data, 5G, and Beidou navigation, promote the research and development of important logistics equipment, and promote systematic integrated innovation. Support the digital transformation of logistics enterprises and accelerate the development of new facilities such as smart ports and smart hubs. At the same time, we should attach importance to innovative application scenarios. Encourage enterprises to develop new logistics models that combine platform economy, low altitude economy, and unmanned driving, and strengthen the application of intelligent integration technology for warehouse distribution and transportation, as well as digital twin technology.
