Recently, "Xuanniao Wencong" was published by Zhongzhou Ancient Books Publishing House. This series includes seven academic essay collections, namely Wang Zijin's "The Great Wind of the Canghai Sea", Lv Zongli's "The Gods in the Human World", Wang Renxiang's "The West of the Moon and the East of the Sun", Tang Huisheng's "The Shape of Thought", Chaoge Jin's "Walking Camel in the Snow", Li Huarui's "Sequel to Following the Way on a Flat Slope", and Chen Wenhao's "Essays in the Yongru Studio". In the "Xuan Niao" chapter of the "Song of Shang" in the Book of Songs, it is said: "The fate of the Xuan Niao gave birth to the Shang Dynasty, and it lived in the Yin Dynasty with the radiance of the earth." The Xuan Niao was a divine bird of the Shang Dynasty and has been recorded in later classics such as the "Shan Hai Jing" and "Records of the Grand Historian". The editor named the series "Xuanniao", which must have its mysterious aspects. With curiosity, I took the opportunity to read seven volumes and learned that this series of books embodies the wisdom and enthusiasm of many experts in the fields of literature, history, and philosophy. From different perspectives, it deeply discusses ancient Chinese cultural ideas, combining the profound rigor of academic monographs with the elegance and clarity of prose works. It can be said that it combines textual research and literary beauty. The "Xuanniao Wencong" is both an independent book and a set due to the shared ideological values. Seven individuals combined their academic experiences and achievements to conduct in-depth discussions on the world of ancient Chinese thought. If we take the Xuanbird as an analogy, these seven books are like the feathers of the Xuanbird, each carrying a profound historical and cultural heritage, and weaving together a grand picture. The poem 'The Great Wind in the Sea' has a grand atmosphere. Through the exploration of literature, art, religion, and the analysis of historical documents and archaeological discoveries during the Qin and Han dynasties, the prince discusses the social structure, political system, and spiritual outlook of the Qin and Han people during this period. The discourse that involves the worship of heroes and emphasizes the close connection between individual and national destiny is noteworthy, and together with the interpretation of the Hongfang style, Confucian and elegant spirit, it constitutes a subtle grasp of the cultural spirit of the Qin and Han dynasties. The folk beliefs in China are characterized by national characteristics and historical traditions. They have become an important part of Chinese culture, thought, and customs, and their influence continues to this day, reaching overseas The opening of Lv Zongli's "Gods on Earth" reads as follows. This book explores folk beliefs and demonstrates the ancient people's psychology of seeking help from ghosts and gods in the face of natural disasters and social unrest. It also "decodes" Chinese myths and legends, reflecting the ancient people's understanding of the universe, nature, and society. It is a key to interpreting the spiritual world of ancient China. The novel 'Moon West and Sun East' is rich in wisdom. From the perspective of public archaeology, Wang Renxiang presents the human journey of archaeologists through speeches, prefaces, book reviews, and reflections. He combines archaeological discoveries with ancient thought to explore the belief system and spiritual world in ancient culture, revealing the understanding of natural and supernatural phenomena by prehistoric humans, and guiding readers to think about the origin and development of human civilization. The focus of the study of 'The Shape of Thought' is on ancient rock paintings. Tang Huisheng pointed out that rock paintings were not only a way for ancient people to record life, pursue beauty, express emotions, and understand life, but also a medium for them to communicate with nature and gods, a reflection of their aesthetic consciousness, and a carrier of their ideological world. As stated in the book, "among the many spiritual and cultural relics left by ancient people, rock paintings are the most direct." The animal images in rock paintings are often closely related to the hunting life of ancient people, and some abstract symbols may represent their thoughts on the order of the universe. Through the interpretation of rock paintings, the book showcases the ancient people's reverence and admiration for nature, as well as the thoughts and emotions they expressed in their artistic creations. In the book 'Walking on the Camel in the Snow', Chaoge Jin combines folklore and literature to explore social phenomena and ideological expressions in cultural integration. In the book, it is said that "UNESCO has been calling on human society to protect intangible cultural heritage since 2003, recognizing that human civilization is driven by both written and oral traditions." Therefore, only by respecting cultural differences can we create a harmonious atmosphere of cultural dialogue, make cultural heritage a medium for communication, cooperation, and mutual understanding, and tell the story of China while telling the story of humanity well. Li Huarui's "Sequel to Pingpo Zundao" takes the history of the Song Dynasty as its background, and starts from prefaces, speeches, and perspectives to showcase the social, cultural, and ideological changes of the Song Dynasty. It also explores note taking as a different way of research and writing from official history, providing readers with a new perspective for understanding the history of the Song Dynasty. In the "Essays of the Yongru Studio", Chen Wenhao elaborated on the significance of divination and astrology as an important ideological phenomenon in the Han Dynasty. Through the analysis of Han dynasty divination and astrology literature, Chen explained that divination and astrology combined astronomy, geography, and human affairs, forming a complex system of thought. Its core lies in the "correspondence between heaven and man", that is, the mutual influence between celestial phenomena and human affairs. The book points out that the concept of divination and divination was not only an integral part of the Han Dynasty's ideological and cultural system, but also a tool used by rulers to consolidate their power and control society. It interacted with Confucianism, forming a unique cultural phenomenon that deeply influenced the political decision-making and social life of the Han Dynasty, as well as the worldview and values of the Han people - mysticism and rationalism intertwined, making their mentality complex when facing the unknown world. The series also covers cultural exchanges and interactions between China and foreign countries, providing readers with a cross-cultural perspective to understand the intellectual world of ancient Chinese people from a broader perspective. As an academic work, "Xuanniao Wencong" is also quite innovative in style. Firstly, break through the serious and somewhat rigid barriers of academic works, and use relaxed and peaceful essays to elaborate. Chapters such as "Walking into the Past" and "People in the Past" in "Moon West and Sun East" poetically narrate archaeological discoveries and reflections, believing that "archaeologists and cultural relic restoration experts are both people who bridge the gaps in history". Gods on Earth "explores mythology and religion in a lively way, allowing readers to appreciate the charm of academia in a relaxed reading experience. It lowers the threshold for academic books without compromising academic taste, striving to bring more people closer to academia. Secondly, the structure is quite ingenious. Each work revolves around a core theme, but presents diverse perspectives. For example, 'The Great Wind of the Canghai' is based on the history of the Qin and Han dynasties, and discusses from multiple levels such as history, culture, and society. It has both a macro historical perspective and micro cultural details, interweaving history and reality, mythology and reality. For example, "The Shape of Thought" covers multiple dimensions such as a historical review of rock art, exploration of research paradigms in rock art disciplines, and introduction to local rock art. Finally, the text is beautiful. The movie 'Walking on the Snow Camel' is full of genuine emotions and humorous when reminiscing about family and friends. The sequel of 'Pingpo Zundao' depicts the history of the Song Dynasty in the form of notes, showcasing a different writing style from historical research. The concise and profound writing skills can be seen in the chapter titles such as "Essays of the Yongru Studio", "A Series of Discussions on Book History", "Collecting Benefits from Bamboo and Silk", and "Looking at the Sky through a Tube". Scholars have brushed away the accumulated dust of ancient ideological relics and discovered the joyful, unrestrained, and vivid factors, hoping to provide reference and inspiration for the development of modern society. From this, it can be seen that the value of this series of books lies not only in its academic and literary nature, but also in its intellectual inspiration. In the fast-paced life, we often get lost in the waves of material and technological advancements, and the "Xuanniao Wencong" reminds us that looking back at history can also find a place for our soul to settle and a direction to move forward. To do so, the 'Xuanniao Wencong' is like a Xuanniao flapping its wings, calling us to trace our roots and travel far away. As the saying goes: The Xuan bird opens its literary heart and vibrates its feathers to play the emblem sound. (New Society)
