From February 14th to 19th, 2025, the Intermediate People's Court of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, publicly held a first instance trial of 23 defendants including Ming Guoping, Ming Zhenzhen, Bi Huijun, Ming Julan, and Wu Hongming for fraud, intentional homicide, intentional injury, illegal detention, extortion, opening casinos, organizing prostitution, drug trafficking, organizing others to illegally cross national borders, illegally crossing national borders, and infringing on citizens' personal information. The People's Procuratorate of Wenzhou City has charged that since 2015, the Ming family criminal group, with core family members such as Ming Xuechang (deceased), Ming Guoan (handled separately), Ming Guoping, and Ming Zhenzhen as the main members, and other family members such as Bi Huijun and Ming Julan, as well as armed leaders such as Zhou Weichang, Luo Jialiang, and Yang Zhengxi as important members, has used the influence of the Ming family in the Kokang region of Myanmar to develop and rely on the armed forces controlled by the Ming family. They have set up multiple "industrial parks" in Kokang Old Street City, Shiyuanzi, Qingshuihe, and other places, recruited and attracted multiple "gold lords" such as Wu Hongming, Luo Jianzhang, and Jiang Ji to settle in and provide armed protection, and colluded with them. A criminal group with "financial owners" as the primary members, carrying out cross-border telecommunications network fraud, intentional homicide, intentional injury, illegal detention, opening casinos, drug trafficking Organized prostitution and other criminal activities, involved gambling and fraud of more than 10 billion yuan, resulting in the death of 14 Chinese citizens and injuries to 6 Chinese citizens. On October 20, 2023, in order to prevent fraudulent individuals from being transferred to China, the Mingjia Criminal Group provided armed escort and supervision, and worked with the "financial owner" to transfer and hide fraudulent individuals. They used force to suppress and shoot to prevent fraudulent individuals from escaping, resulting in multiple casualties. The procuratorial organ requests to hold members of the Mingjia Criminal Group and its affiliated criminal groups criminally responsible on 11 charges, including fraud and intentional homicide. During the trial, the prosecution presented relevant evidence, and each defendant and their defense counsel conducted cross examination. Both the prosecution and defense fully expressed their opinions under the court's supervision, and each defendant made their final statements. Finally, the court announced a recess and scheduled a verdict. More than 100 people, including deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, journalists, family members of the parties involved, and people from all walks of life, attended the trial as observers.
