More possibilities for low altitude economy from the perspective of 'air delivery'
2025-02-13
Ordering a meal at the mountaintop, you can enjoy freshly cooked buns from "Feilai" and hot drinks in just over ten minutes... According to a recent report by China News Service, many scenic spots have launched drone delivery catering services, and "aerial takeout" is popular among tourists. Recently, "air delivery" has begun to enter people's sight. Since August last year, Badaling Great Wall has opened the first regular drone delivery route in Beijing. After tourists place orders on the mini program, the drone can fly to collect meals within 15 minutes, which will be dismantled and handed over to tourists by dedicated staff. In addition, scenic spots such as Qianfoshan in Jinan and Longling Mountain Ecological Park in Wuhan have also opened drone delivery services... Compared to traditional manual delivery, drone delivery is more efficient. Taking Meituan drones as an example, their average delivery time in 2023 is about 20 minutes, which is nearly 40% more efficient than traditional delivery methods. In addition, in remote areas and densely populated scenic spots with inconvenient transportation, traditional delivery methods are inefficient, and the unique advantages of drone delivery are more prominent. The reason why the scene of "aerial food delivery" that once existed in science fiction movies can be implemented is due to the rapid development of the low altitude economy in recent years. Low altitude economy refers to a comprehensive economic form that is driven by the low altitude flight activities of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, radiating and driving the integrated development of related fields. "Air delivery" is one of the typical application scenarios of low altitude economy. Besides' air delivery ', the low altitude economy also has great potential in other fields. From low altitude transportation that makes short distance transportation more convenient to air inspections that improve inspection efficiency, from drone spraying that can reduce pesticide use to highly mobile and flexible "drone traffic police", the low altitude economy is accelerating its entry into people's lives. The rapid development of the low altitude economy is attributed to the technological breakthroughs in China's aircraft and the technological accumulation in industries such as communication, aviation, and new energy vehicles, as well as the support of favorable policies. In July 2024, the Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Comprehensively Deepening Reform and Promoting Chinese path to modernization clearly proposed "developing general aviation and low altitude economy". In December 2024, the Low altitude Economic Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission was officially unveiled, responsible for formulating and organizing the implementation of low altitude economic development strategies and medium - to long-term development plans. According to statistics, more than 20 provinces in China have included the development of low altitude economy in their local government work reports or introduced relevant policies, further boosting industry confidence. Of course, we should also recognize that although the low altitude economy has enormous potential, it also faces many challenges. On the one hand, there is a shortage of professional talents. Low altitude economy is an emerging economic form that integrates multiple fields. The cultivation of talents with a single knowledge system is difficult to meet the development needs, and there is an urgent need to cultivate a group of high-level composite talents with strong professional background, engineering technology, and innovation ability; On the other hand, the airspace management system still needs to be improved. Currently, the approval process for the use of low altitude airspace is complex, and the airspace division is not detailed enough, which limits the activity range of low altitude aircraft and restricts the development of low altitude economy. In addition, from a demand perspective, most cities have not yet formed industrial scale effects, resulting in higher costs for purchasing and using drones. Making the low altitude economy truly 'fly' requires joint efforts from multiple parties. Firstly, for the development of low altitude economy, infrastructure must be prioritized. Actively building a drone management and scheduling platform, striving to achieve unified supervision and security of drones; Secondly, further connect the education chain, industry chain, talent chain, and innovation chain of school enterprise cooperation in the field of low altitude economy, and cultivate more professional talents; In addition, we will deepen the reform of low altitude airspace management, formulate detailed rules for airspace management, and achieve effective utilization of airspace resources. I believe that with the continuous advancement of technology and the gradual refinement of policies, the low altitude economy will soar high and shine in more fields, injecting new vitality into economic and social development.
