Improve the adaptability of "elderly and young co care"
2025-02-05
Promoting "co care for the elderly and young" is not simply adding the functions of elderly care and childcare, but through refined design and innovation, promoting the organic integration of the two services to take care of "one elderly and one young" is an important concern for many families and a social problem. In the past two years, many cities have piloted the "joint care for the elderly and young" model, providing one-stop solutions for residents' elderly care and childcare issues. Not long ago, the first operating kindergarten in Chongqing to embed elderly care services was launched for use. Here, the elderly care service station transformed from idle floors has a health management area, a leisure and entertainment area, and a cultural and educational area. It will also provide meal assistance, cleaning assistance, and accompanying services. One elderly and one young "each find their own place, spending time together day and night, enjoying a harmonious atmosphere. From the perspective of China's population development situation, with the deepening of aging and the decline of fertility rate, "co parenting" is undoubtedly an ideal solution. Carrying out elderly and young care in the same space can optimize resource allocation, reduce family burden, and promote intergenerational communication. However, the current "joint care for the elderly and young" is still in its infancy, and the relevant service norms and standards are not yet mature. It faces practical challenges such as insufficient resources and talent shortage, and the profit model also needs to be tested by the market and continuously improved in practice. The advantage of "joint care for the elderly and young" lies in resource integration, while the difficulty lies in balancing demand. Although both elderly care and childcare are caregiving services, there are still differences in specific requirements. Promoting "co care for the elderly and young" is not simply adding the functions of elderly care and childcare, but rather promoting the organic integration of the two services through refined design and innovation. Old and young coexist, each with their own preferences. Children enjoy dynamic and versatile spaces, while the elderly place greater emphasis on safety and comfort. Therefore, the spatial setting and intergenerational interaction activity design of the "elderly and young co care" place require higher compatibility. For example, after the Walnut Garden Elderly Care Service Station in Guang'anmen Inner Street, Xicheng District, Beijing was incorporated into childcare services, it not only adjusted the brightness of the lights and added small blackboards for children, designed lively and cute hand drawn patterns, but also launched children's meals, creating a better experience for children. Fully considering the behavioral characteristics and usage needs of both parties, while also carrying out age appropriate and child friendly modifications, to enhance the compatibility of "joint care for the elderly and young", in order to provide peace of mind and satisfaction. The new model of "joint care for the elderly and young" has also put forward higher requirements for nursing talents. The dual task of managing the elderly and caring for the young means that caregivers need to be familiar with both the key points of elderly care and the essence of early childhood education. At present, most "elderly and young co care" institutions can only achieve relative professionalism in one aspect. To further promote the development of the industry and better meet the needs of the masses, efforts should be made to integrate talent resources in medical, elderly care, and education fields, promote cross skill training among industry institutions, and accelerate the cultivation of more versatile talents. As a new phenomenon, "joint care for the elderly and young" presents good market prospects and social benefits, and a better institutional environment should be created to safeguard it. The "14th Five Year Plan for Actively Responding to Population Aging Project and Childcare Construction Implementation Plan" proposes that all regions should unify the planning of elderly care and childcare service system construction, and formulate overall solutions such as "one elderly and one small" in cities. By combining industry development trends, accelerating institutional construction, improving regulatory systems, and clarifying the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of all parties, more people will accept and benefit from this new service model. Providing for the elderly and nurturing the young is crucial to the happiness of millions of households and is the common aspiration of the entire society. In the context of changes in population structure, reasonable planning, forward-looking layout, and the integration of resources in elderly care and childcare, continuously improving service quality and convenience, can better solve people's worries and make the life of "one elderly and one young" warmer and happier.
