The first domestically distributed electric drive flying car made its debut

2025-01-02

On the 1st, Southeast University released the first domestically developed distributed electric drive flying car, "Dongda Kunpeng 1," independently developed by its research team. This flying car is the first all wheel steering all wheel drive, four axle eight propeller configuration flying car in China, and also the first land air integrated flying car in Jiangsu Province. The overall size of the "Dongda Kunpeng 1" is 2.1 × 1.2 × 1.5 meters, with a maximum takeoff weight of 500 kilograms, a flight endurance of ≥ 20 minutes, and a maximum flight altitude of ≥ 300 meters; Its ground motion mode is based on a four wheel distributed electric drive system, with electro-hydraulic composite braking, and a maximum speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour. This land air integrated flying car is mainly based on automobiles, rather than the current technology route of drones. It can switch freely between ground travel and flight movement The project leader and professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Southeast University, Yin Guodong, introduced that traditional electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) do not have ground mobility capabilities; The "Dongda Kunpeng 1" is a land air integrated configuration, which combines the fast movement capability of ground transport equipment with the flexible movement capability of air transport equipment. At the same time, the "Dongda Kunpeng 1" integrates multiple innovative technologies, breaking through key technologies such as land air integrated vehicle structure topology optimization, power system global redundancy mechanism, multimodal interactive digital cockpit, cross domain shared multi-dimensional data fusion, land air distributed electric drive system, and dual Ackermann collaborative steering. The endurance of the "Dongda Kunpeng 1" mainly relies on high-power power batteries. Project team member Zhuang Weichao said that the team has also developed an extended range aviation electric propulsion system, which has the characteristics of high power, long endurance, and high reliability compared to existing pure battery driven systems. The flight endurance is expected to exceed 2 hours and will be applied in the next generation of land air integrated flying vehicles. Yin Guodong stated that the team is committed to exploring new modes of future transportation and hopes to provide more possibilities for future transportation through this innovative achievement, and contribute to the field of low altitude economy.
