Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially approved the establishment of the National New Energy Storage Innovation Center based on Guangdong New Energy Storage National Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the National Molecular Drug Innovation Center based on Shenzhen Gebijia Molecular Drug Innovation Center Co., Ltd. This is the first time that Guangdong has been approved to add two new national manufacturing innovation centers at the same time, with a total of six, ranking first in the country in terms of quantity. The National New Energy Storage Innovation Center has been established in Guangzhou, focusing on large-scale energy storage technology and equipment research and development with high capacity, high safety, long life, and high efficiency. It focuses on five major fields and ten directions, including electrochemical energy storage, mechanical energy storage, superconducting energy storage, thermal (cold) energy storage, and hydrogen energy storage, to carry out research and development, transfer and diffusion, and first commercial application of key core common technologies of energy storage bodies and supporting technologies such as energy storage process safety, precise energy control, and innovative intelligent control. It aims to create an innovative platform that integrates "research and development testing pilot testing empirical". The National Molecular Drug Innovation Center was established in Shenzhen to meet the development needs of chemical drugs, biopharmaceuticals, and high-end formulations. It builds key common technology research and development platforms for drug concept validation, microecology, high-end formulations, biotechnology drugs, as well as public service platforms for intellectual property, talent training, and achievement transformation. It promotes the application of green pharmaceuticals and sustainable production process technologies, and drives the overall competitiveness of China's pharmaceutical industry. The National Manufacturing Innovation Center is the only innovation platform approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and included in the white list of national science and technology innovation platform bases (only 14 categories nationwide) after being reviewed by the Central Science and Technology Commission. Only one platform is established in each field, with strict establishment conditions and management requirements, and high value. The center adopts a development model of "company+alliance", focusing on eight major tasks including conducting research and development of cutting-edge and common key technologies in the industry, establishing a collaborative innovation mechanism between industry, academia, and research, strengthening the protection and application of intellectual property rights, promoting the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, strengthening the role of standard guidance and guarantee, serving mass entrepreneurship and innovation, building a multi-level talent team, and encouraging international cooperation for construction and operation. In recent years, Guangdong has planned its layout around national key areas and provided strong support from various aspects such as legislation, funding, and talent, creating favorable conditions for the establishment of a national manufacturing innovation center. At present, Guangdong has successfully established 6 national level manufacturing innovation centers and 33 provincial-level manufacturing innovation centers, including printing and flexible display, high-performance medical devices, 5G mid to high frequency devices, ultra high definition video (jointly established with Sichuan Province), new energy storage, and molecular drugs. The relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology stated that in the future, Guangdong will adhere to the leadership of the manufacturing industry, accelerate the promotion of new industrialization, solidly promote the construction of innovation capabilities in the manufacturing industry, fully play the leading and radiating role of the national manufacturing innovation center, actively undertake national strategic tasks, strive to obtain more innovation resources and industrial resources for layout in Guangdong, and promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation.
