Phnom Penh News: Recently, the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce released a report showing that the number of Chinese companies registered in Cambodia reached 2921 in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 20.65%. The bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and China was 13.76 billion US dollars, of which Cambodia's exports to China were 1.6 billion US dollars, a growth rate of 22.27%. The picture shows Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. According to Xie Wudi, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Commission, China has consistently ranked first in the field of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Cambodia in recent years. Many large Chinese companies are investing in new areas in Cambodia, including tire manufacturing, electronic equipment assembly, and furniture manufacturing. In addition to the traditional clothing and footwear industries, these investments have also created higher added value through the adoption of modern technology, driving further development of the Cambodian economy. Xie Wudi believes that this series of data and development trends indicate that Cambodia is becoming a hot spot for Chinese enterprise investment, and the future prospects for cooperation between the two sides are even broader.
