According to the latest data from the Hungarian Ministry of Economy, a total of 183000 Chinese tourists arrived in Hungary in the first 10 months of this year, nearly doubling compared to the same period last year. On the 11th, the Hungarian Ministry of Economy stated in a statement to Xinhua News Agency that the total number of Chinese tourists staying overnight in Hungarian accommodation during the first 10 months of this year was 441000, a year-on-year increase of 75%. The statement states that this significant growth is attributed to multiple factors. In 2023, Hungary became one of the first countries in China to pilot the resumption of outbound group tours, playing a key role in it. The marketing and promotion work of the Hungarian National Tourism Board also provides assistance for the recovery of tourists. In addition, the increase in direct passenger flights between China and Hungary has further promoted the surge in the number of Chinese tourists. Currently, there are 21 direct flights per week between 7 major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and Budapest. Hungarian Economy Minister Nagi Marton recently announced that due to an increase in the number of flights, Hungary will begin construction of the third terminal at Budapest Airport. The passenger flow at Budapest Airport is expected to reach 18 million by 2024 and 20 million by 2030. (New Society)
