Not long ago, the "Dolphin Chasing Map" and "Dolphin Appreciation Guide" of the Yangtze River finless porpoise were released, which comprehensively summarized the observation points of the finless porpoise, carefully planned 5 dolphin chasing routes, supplemented by cultural scenery explanations and finless porpoise photography skills, and explored new forms of biodiversity conservation and popular science education. The Yangtze finless porpoise is known as the "smiling angel" and is the only surviving cetacean and dolphin species in the Yangtze River. It is also a national first-class protected wild animal. However, due to habitat loss, fishing errors, water pollution, climate change, and other reasons, the population of finless porpoises has sharply declined and was listed as an "critically endangered species" in 2013. With the deepening of the Yangtze River conservation, the population of finless porpoises has steadily increased, reaching 1249 in 2022, an increase of 23.42% compared to 2017. It has become common for residents along the Yangtze River to "encounter" finless porpoises by the river. The "Dolphin Appreciation Guide" is not only a practical manual to meet the public's observation needs, but also an "ecological guide" for harmonious coexistence between oneself and nature. The 'Ecological Guide' points to a path of ecological priority and green development. The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China included the construction of ecological civilization in the overall layout of the "Five in One" cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to "promote green development and promote harmonious coexistence between man and nature". Every step we take is moving towards improving the ecological civilization system and enhancing the ability to govern the ecological environment. In recent years, provinces and cities along the Yangtze River have placed the restoration of the ecological environment in an important position, "jointly focusing on large-scale protection and avoiding large-scale development". The ecological environment protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has undergone a turning point, and biodiversity has significantly increased. Looking across the land of China, from tropical rainforests to the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, from the coast of the East China Sea to the southwestern hinterland, more and more rare and endangered wild animals are entering the public eye, and new species and record species are constantly being discovered. At the Rare Wildlife Photography Exhibition in the Yangtze River Basin, rare wildlife such as running Tibetan antelopes, smiling finless porpoises, and golden monkeys in the snow all captured wonderful moments in front of the camera. A photographer exclaimed, "There are more and more 'national treasures' in the lens." Rare animals frequently appear, showcasing the beauty of nature and ecology, and also making more people realize that the construction of ecological civilization has always been on the road. The Decision of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposes: "We must improve the institutional system of ecological civilization, promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion, and growth in a coordinated manner, actively respond to climate change, and accelerate the improvement and implementation of the system and mechanism of the concept that green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver." With a higher position, broader vision, and greater efforts to promote ecological environment protection work in the new journey, we must handle the relationship between development and protection well, and we will definitely be able to build a beautiful China where green mountains are always present, green waters flow long, and air is always fresh, and achieve modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
