On the evening of November 4th, in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, the newly composed opera "Ti Ying" created and performed by the Fujian Pear Garden Opera Inheritance Center was presented at the 9th Fujian Art Festival. The drama tells the story of a fifteen year old woman named Ti Ying who travels thousands of miles to Chang'an to save her father who was sentenced to corporal punishment during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Western Han Dynasty. She seeks to plead with Emperor Wen of Han and willingly accepts the punishment for her father, ultimately moving him deeply. (New Society)
