Strong Military Forum | Proficiently Mastering and Using Weapons in Hand
2024-10-28
Weapons and equipment are the "second life" of soldiers and an important foundation for military preparedness. Recently, during his inspection of a certain brigade of the Rocket Force, President Xi encouraged everyone to train diligently, scientifically, and safely, master and use their weapons proficiently, and live up to the trust of the Party and the people. To study and implement this important instruction, we must practice and use our weapons with precision, and achieve the best combination of people and weapons. The sword sings to itself in the depths of the skill. The effectiveness of the same equipment varies depending on the operator's proficiency and mental state. On the battlefield, if soldiers cannot proficiently master and use the weapons in their hands, it is like sitting still waiting for death. Only by keeping weapons and equipment alive and moving can they fully exert their performance and effectively defeat the enemy. Comrade Chen Yi once said, "Now that we have new equipment, we must make every effort to master it. If we cannot master the use of weapons, our combat effectiveness will be reduced, victory will not be consolidated, and even become ineffective." During the Korean War, sniper hero Zhang Taofang studied shooting skills diligently. She lay down all day during the day and aimed at incense at night, mastering an ordinary infantry and cavalry rifle to perfection. Within 32 days, she killed and injured 214 enemies with 436 bullets, setting a record for the highest cold gun killing by the Chinese People's Volunteer Army on the Korean battlefield. Currently, the speed of installing new equipment into the military is getting faster, the number of models is increasing, and the technological content is getting higher. The correlation and coupling between different types of equipment are becoming stronger, and the characteristics of system application are becoming more and more prominent. In the confrontation between systems, every professional position is an indispensable and important part, and every officer and soldier needs to hone their professional skills in order to seize the opportunity to win on the battlefield. At the critical moment when the Navy's 372 submarine encountered underwater danger, the officers and soldiers calmly responded and turned the danger into safety. The successful handling of dangerous situations is due to their embedding themselves into the combat system, focusing on the training of the entire system, all elements, and all processes, so as to achieve close coordination and remain calm in the face of changes. The suddenness, brutality, and destructiveness of modern warfare have unprecedentedly increased, and the precision, concealment, and intelligence of high-tech equipment have been unprecedentedly improved. The competition on the battlefield is increasingly becoming a comprehensive contest of the physiological limits of officers and soldiers, the performance limits of equipment, and the combat effectiveness limits of the combination of personnel and equipment. If training is difficult, advancing is easy; If training is easy, advancing is difficult. Only through extreme training, increasing training difficulty, intensifying training intensity, strengthening the maximum performance of weapons and equipment, boundary conditions, interference conditions, operation and practical application in complex environments, and practicing skills to the extreme and weapons to the extreme, can we master the initiative to win the future battlefield. To obtain a strong army, one must have strong armor and sharp weapons, and select and practice them effectively. Each unit should closely follow the combat mission, combat opponents, and combat environment, strengthen targeted training in new equipment, new skills, and new tactics, and organically combine the consolidation and expansion of traditional combat capabilities with the innovative development of new quality combat capabilities to comprehensively improve the unit's ability to win. We should strengthen the systematic and normalized use of weapons and equipment, achieve the organic combination of people and weapons to a higher degree and a wider range, and better promote the construction of our military's weapons and equipment into a system to form combat and support capabilities. Strengthen boundary condition training, and train every individual soldier, every type of equipment, and every type of combat element to the extreme. Widely carry out mass military training competitions, cultivate a large number of professional and technical experts in the new era, and guide officers and soldiers to refine their "hands-on skills" and strengthen their "essential skills" through gradual progress and self challenge.
