I hope the children can stand steadily and travel far with the insoles I made, and better defend their country. Recently, at the new pre military education base in Xixia County, Henan Province, more than 100 new recruits received a pair of insoles carefully sewn by Wang Xiaojuan, the "grandmother who supports the army". Wang Xiaojuan, 89 years old this year, is a retired doctor who grew up in a military family. Influenced by her family environment, she has had a deep affection for soldiers since childhood. In 1948, Wang Xiaojuan's aunt Wang Shuhui joined an underground party organization and embarked on the revolutionary path while studying at Kaifeng Women's Normal School. In 1949, Wang Xiaojuan's sister Wang Shaowei joined the army and worked at the Southwest Technical Bureau of the Second Field Army. My uncle unfortunately sacrificed himself on the Korean War, and my brother-in-law, brother-in-law, three cousins, as well as my son-in-law and nephew, all have military experience, "Wang Xiaojuan said." Over the past few decades, my family has produced 15 revolutionary soldiers. "In 2013, Wang Xiaojuan accidentally saw a scene on TV news where her good military sister-in-law Zhang Rong gave insoles to newly recruited soldiers, and had the idea of making insoles for them. She bought fabric, from drawing samples, cutting samples, sticking samples to sewing stitch by stitch, every process is meticulous, often busy until late at night, making the insoles both thick and exquisite. From then on, sewing insoles for new recruits every year became something that Wang Xiaojuan couldn't afford to delay, and this persistence lasted for more than 10 years. Nowadays, Wang Xiaojuan's insoles are becoming more and more exquisite, and some even use red silk thread to embroider the words "Support the Army". During this period, Wang Xiaojuan formed deep friendships with many soldiers. Corporal Zhao Chenbo, who served in a detachment of the Xinjiang Armed Police Corps, had concerns about whether he could adapt to the training life of the troops before enlisting. After receiving the insoles sewn by Wang Xiaojuan, he wrote in his diary: "Grandma Wang is so old and still insists on making insoles for us, pouring deep love into every stitch and thread. I will work hard and bring glory to my hometown with excellent results." After joining the army, Zhao Chenbo trained hard and participated in major training tasks multiple times, and was awarded the title of "Four Haves" excellent soldier. Once, Wang Xiaojuan saw on TV that the militia had worn her foot during training and felt heartbroken. She worked overtime to sew over 200 pairs of insoles and gave them to the militia participating in the standby training. Militia training is very difficult, and I feel very meaningful to be able to do something within my capabilities for them, "said Wang Xiaojuan. As she grew older, Wang Xiaojuan suffered from diseases such as bronchitis and leg pain, making it difficult for her to move around, but she persisted in sewing insoles. After the insoles were made, she entrusted her son Wang Jianying to give them to the new recruits and sent a message: train hard, bring good news early, and add glory to the hometown. With faith in my heart, there is no difficulty that cannot be overcome, "said Wang Xiaojuan." As long as my body allows, I will keep doing it. "Wang Xiaojuan has always been a warm-hearted person. Since her retirement in 1990, whenever anyone faced difficulties, she took the initiative to lend a helping hand. Wherever there is a disaster, she takes the lead in donating money and goods. Someone had a headache and fever, but she used her professional expertise to voluntarily diagnose and treat them, and her footprints were scattered throughout the streets and alleys of the county. For decades, she has actively engaged in public welfare and is known as the "most beautiful grandmother who supports the military". (New Society)
