Congjiang, Guizhou: Traditional bullfighting to celebrate harvest

On September 8th, a folk bullfighting event was held at Songpi Bullfighting Pond in Tingdong Town, Congjiang County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. 48 water buffalo from surrounding villages participated in the competition to celebrate a bountiful harvest. Bullfighting competition is a popular folk entertainment activity among the Miao and Dong people in Congjiang County. From summer and autumn to spring plowing, traditional bullfighting competitions are held every weekend in the local area. (New Society)
