On the 3rd, UN Secretary General's spokesperson Diyarik said that the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is providing support for the North Korean government's various vaccination campaigns across the country. At the press conference on the same day, Djalik said that the target of this vaccination campaign was more than 800000 children and 120000 pregnant women who had not been vaccinated since the COVID-19 epidemic. Diyaric said that with the support of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, UNICEF has assisted the North Korean Health Province to deliver more than 4 million doses of vaccines to the country, including measles rubella vaccine, tetanus diphtheria vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine and polio vaccine. In addition, UNICEF has provided new freezers, refrigerators, and other supplies to ensure the effectiveness of vaccines, and over 7200 healthcare workers have received training on vaccine administration management and handling of potential vaccine reactions. According to UNICEF, before the outbreak of the COVID-19, the national immunization coverage rate in North Korea exceeded 96%, but during the epidemic, the coverage rate dropped significantly, and many children faced the threat of polio, diphtheria, measles, rubella and other deadly diseases. UNICEF provided support for three vaccination campaigns in North Korea between 2021 and 2023. The vaccination campaign in North Korea was launched on the 2nd. (New Society)
