Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on the 30th that maintaining international peace and security and promoting global development and prosperity are the common aspirations and pursuits of China and African countries. Both sides will take the 2024 Forum on China Africa Cooperation summit as an opportunity to gather the "global South" forces of developing countries to unite and cooperate, jointly defend international fairness and justice, and promote world peace and development. At the regular press conference that day, a reporter asked: Recently, African figures such as former Vice Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mwancha, and President of the South African Institute of Diplomacy, Bahana, stated that in the current turbulent international situation, both Africa and China are facing complex challenges and should jointly adhere to multilateralism, maintain world peace and development, and contribute wisdom to improving global governance. But at the same time, there are also views in the West that China is using the concerns and dissatisfaction of the "global South" towards the current international system to challenge the "free world order". What is the spokesperson's comment on this? Lin Jian stated that China and African countries have suffered oppression and aggression from colonialism and imperialism, and have supported and fought side by side on the path of anti colonialism and anti imperialism, winning national independence and liberation. We all deeply understand the value of upholding independence and defending fairness and justice, agree with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and are committed to promoting the construction of an equal and orderly world multipolarity, inclusive economic globalization, and advancing the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction. Lin Jian said that China and African countries firmly practice true multilateralism, uphold the international system centered on the United Nations, the international order based on international law, and the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, and oppose the legacy of colonialism and hegemonic behavior. We firmly support each other's core interests and adhere to the just stance of developing countries. Firmly promote the construction of an open world economy, demolish walls instead of building them, open up instead of isolating, and enable developing countries to better share the fruits of economic globalization. We firmly advocate that the world should not allow rich countries to remain rich and poor countries to remain poor, oppose all forms of power interference and economic coercion, and demand that developed countries face their historical responsibilities and fulfill their development commitments. We will firmly promote the political resolution of international and regional hotspot issues, advocate for dialogue to bridge differences and cooperation to resolve disputes, and speak out loudly for ceasefire and cessation of war in the Ukraine crisis and the Israeli Palestinian conflict. We firmly support the use of cultural exchange to overcome cultural barriers and promote cultural inclusiveness and mutual learning. We firmly support increasing the representation and voice of developing countries, especially African countries, in the international governance system. China takes the lead in supporting the African Union to become a member of the G20 and welcomes more African countries to join the BRICS family. China and Africa are the backbone of safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, upholding the purposes of the United Nations Charter, and upholding multilateralism and international fairness and justice. Both sides will take the upcoming Forum on China Africa Cooperation summit next week as an opportunity to gather the forces of the 'Global South' that unite and cooperate with developing countries, jointly defend international fairness and justice, and promote world peace and development Lin Jian said.
