Since 2019, Ping An Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. of China has been ranked first among the Fortune Global 500 companies in the Greater Bay Area for six consecutive years. In terms of distribution regions, 17 companies from Guangdong and 5 companies from Hong Kong made the list this year. Guangdong's listed companies are concentrated in the two major metropolitan areas of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which have relatively mature economic output and industrial development. They are located in Shenzhen (9), Guangzhou (6), Dongguan (1), and Foshan (1), respectively. From the perspective of ranking changes, a total of 13 companies in the Greater Bay Area have risen or remained in the same position this year compared to last year, including China Resources Limited, China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., Huawei Investment Holding Co., Ltd., Tencent Holdings Co., Ltd., BYD Co., Ltd., CMB Co., Ltd., Midea Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Construction Group Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Investment Holding Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Guangxin Holdings Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., and Changjiang Heji Industrial Co., Ltd. It is worth noting that Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Guangxin Holding Group Co., Ltd., which were newly listed last year, have both risen in ranking this year, up 20 and 13 places respectively. In addition, AIA Group Holdings Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong, has returned to the list after a year. From the perspective of industry distribution, the listed companies are mainly concentrated in the manufacturing industry, including automobiles, electronics and electronic components, home appliances, as well as multiple fields such as banking and finance, biomedicine, infrastructure, and real estate. It is worth mentioning that the automotive industry is still one of the industries with strong competitiveness in the Greater Bay Area. This year, a total of 10 Chinese automotive and automotive component companies have entered the Fortune Global 500, with 2 companies from the Greater Bay Area. Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. has been on the list for 12 consecutive years, while BYD Co., Ltd. has risen 69 places from last year, becoming the company with the greatest improvement in the ranking for two consecutive years. From the perspective of revenue, this year, the total revenue of 133 Chinese companies on the list is about 11 trillion US dollars in 2023, and the total revenue of 22 companies in the Greater Bay Area is about 1.4 trillion US dollars in 2023, accounting for about 12.7% of the total revenue of the Fortune Global 500 companies in China.
