Chinese representative: Implementing the 'two-state solution' is the only feasible way to solve the Middle East issue

Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong stated at the Security Council's open debate on the Israeli Palestinian issue on the 17th that implementing the "two-state solution" is the only feasible way to solve the Middle East problem. Fu Cong said that for decades, the situation between Palestine and Israel has repeatedly been turbulent, and the fundamental reason is that the "two-state solution" has not been implemented, and the national rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state have not been guaranteed. Gaza is the Gaza of Palestine, the Gaza of the Palestinian people. The discussion on post-war governance in Gaza must be based on reaching a political solution, rather than fragmented crisis management. It must respect the will of the Palestinian people and take into account the reasonable concerns of regional countries. China firmly supports Palestine's achievement of independent state building and "Palestinian rule over Palestine", advocates for the convening of a larger, more authoritative, and effective international peace conference, and formulates a specific timetable and roadmap for implementing the "two-state solution". Fu Cong stated that achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire is a necessary prerequisite for saving innocent lives. When the United States pushed for the Security Council to pass Resolution 2735, it repeatedly claimed that Israel had accepted the ceasefire agreement. But more than a month has passed, and Israel's military operations in Gaza are still expanding. Recently, attacks on multiple refugee camps such as Mawasi and Nuseirat have caused significant casualties. Currently, what Gaza needs is hope for peace. Military action will only cause more innocent civilian casualties and will not create favorable conditions for the release of detainees. China urges Israel to immediately cease all military operations in Gaza and stop collective punishment of the people of Gaza. Countries with significant influence should make sincere and responsible efforts to urge the parties involved to demonstrate political will and implement relevant Security Council resolutions. Fu Cong said that expanding humanitarian access is an urgent need to alleviate humanitarian disasters. The humanitarian disaster in Gaza is a man-made disaster, hunger cannot be used as a weapon, and humanitarian issues cannot be politicized. Land transportation channels are the most effective way to expand humanitarian access on a large scale, and their role cannot be replaced. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East and other humanitarian agencies have built the last lifeline for the people of Gaza. China condemns the attacks on humanitarian agencies and personnel and demands a thorough investigation and accountability for the relevant incidents. China urges Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, lift the blockade on Gaza and open all land border crossings to ensure the rapid, safe, and orderly distribution of humanitarian supplies entering and within Gaza, and to cooperate comprehensively with humanitarian agencies such as the United Nations. Fu Cong said that the spillover effects of the current Gaza conflict are accelerating, and the situation in the Middle East is precarious and worrying. China calls on all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint, avoid taking actions that escalate tensions, and jointly prevent a catastrophe that could engulf the entire Middle East region. China will continue to work with all parties to make unremitting efforts to quell the Gaza war, alleviate humanitarian disasters, and implement the "two-state solution" as soon as possible.
