It is reported that on the 15th, with the successful arrival of the second shield machine at the receiving work well, the Guangzhou Haizhuwan Tunnel shield section, invested and constructed by Guangzhou Communications Investment Group and constructed by China Railway 14th Bureau, achieved double line connection, laying a solid foundation for its completion and opening to traffic next year. The fastest monthly excavation of this tunnel shield section is 324 meters, setting a record for ultra large diameter slurry shield tunneling in composite strata in southern China. The Haizhu Bay Tunnel Project has a total length of 4.35 kilometers and spans across Haizhu District and Panyu District of Guangzhou City. Among them, the shield tunnel section is 2102 meters long and designed as a double tube bidirectional 6-lane tunnel. It is constructed using two slurry balance shield machines with an excavation diameter of 15.07 meters, making it the first ultra large diameter shield tunnel in Guangzhou. (New Society)
