The upper reaches of the Yangtze River will experience multiple flood surges in the next week, and the Three Gorges Reservoir will experience a peak inflow of around 45000 cubic meters per second around July 12th. The Yangtze River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources has scheduled the Three Gorges Reservoir to open one spillway hole at 14:00 and one at 18:00 on July 10th, respectively. The outflow rate gradually increased from 27000 cubic meters per second to 31000 cubic meters per second. The water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir is controlled before the flood peak arrives to prepare for flood control and peak shaving. This is the first time this year that the Three Gorges Reservoir has opened its floodgates for flood discharge. (Lai Xin She)
