Today (July 4th), the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High Level Conference on Artificial Intelligence Global Governance opened in Shanghai. The theme of the conference is "Promoting Sharing through Consultation, Promoting Good Governance and Wisdom through Good Governance". At the opening ceremony, Shanghai released the Shanghai Declaration on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence to the world. The declaration proposes to promote the development of artificial intelligence, maintain its security, build a governance system for artificial intelligence, strengthen social participation and enhance public literacy, improve the quality of life and social well-being. It calls on all parties to actively respond, work together, and jointly promote the benefits of artificial intelligence for all mankind. The opening ceremony also released the "China's Wisdom for the World" case collection, which includes a series of typical practices of China's use of artificial intelligence to enhance the common well-being of humanity. It comprehensively demonstrates the people-oriented and intelligent approach, and the more wisdom and infinite possibilities that artificial intelligence injects into the progress and sustainable development of human civilization. It provides a Chinese blueprint for promoting the healthy, safe, and orderly development of artificial intelligence for the world, and also becomes another specific action of China's active practice of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, and the implementation of global development initiatives, global security initiatives, and global civilization initiatives. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Global Industrial Artificial Intelligence Alliance Center of Excellence was officially launched at the opening ceremony to further promote the global practice and exploration of responsible, safe, and sustainable international standards and best practices in artificial intelligence in a wider range of industrial fields, and to use this as an opportunity to further bridge the digital divide between countries and promote the exchange of ideas and experiences. At the opening ceremony and plenary session, representatives of the United Nations, governments of various countries, professional international organizations, globally renowned experts, entrepreneurs, and investors jointly engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on the theme of "promoting sharing through consultation and promoting good governance and intelligence". As an important platform for showcasing cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies in China and globally, Shanghai has successfully hosted 6 World Artificial Intelligence Congresses (WAICs).
