At noon on June 19, with the completion of the welding of the last steel box girder, the Huangmaohai Bridge of Huangmaohai Sea Crossing Project was successfully closed. Jiangmen and Zhuhai smoothly "held hands" in the Huangmaohai Sea area to the west of the Pearl River. The completion of the Huangmaohai Sea Crossing Project laid a solid foundation for its completion and opening to traffic by the end of 2024. The Huangmaohai Cross Sea Passage is the first cross sea passage project to commence construction after the release of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It is also the western extension of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. The total length of the project route is about 31 kilometers, and the length of the sea section is about 15 kilometers. There are two main bridges, Gaolan Port Bridge and Huangmaohai Bridge, set up. The Gaolan Port Bridge was completed on March 20th this year. The Huangmaohai Bridge spans two waterways in the Huangmaohai Sea area and adopts a unique design of 3 towers and 2 spans. It is a cable-stayed bridge with a single column double cable surface fully floating system. The single span of the bridge reaches 720 meters, with a total length of 2200 meters. There are a total of 16 types of beam segments, 149 beam segments, and the heaviest steel box beam is 420 tons. It is reported that the Huangmaohai Bridge adopts a split type steel box girder design, consisting of two steel box girders and transverse connecting boxes. The total width of the bridge deck is 50.4 meters, ranking first in the province among similar bridge types. This is also the first large-scale application of split type steel box girders in Guangdong Province. At present, the construction of the Huangmaohai Cross Sea Passage is progressing smoothly. After the closure of the Huangmaohai Bridge, the project will start a new chapter in road construction and steel box girder bridge deck paving. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2024. After completion, it will form a group of cross sea and cross river channels in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, together with the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, Shenzhong Passage, Nansha Bridge, and Humen Bridge.
