On May 26th, the Guangzhou Foshan South Ring Intercity Railway from Foshan West Station to Guangzhou South Station (referred to as "Guangzhou Foshan South Ring Intercity") and the Foshan Dongguan Intercity Railway from Guangzhou South Station to Wanghong Station (referred to as "Foshan Dongguan Intercity") were completed and opened to traffic. The "four line connection" public transportation operation was implemented with the recently transferred Foshan Zhao and Dongguan Hui intercity railways, marking a new stage of networked operation for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area intercity railway. At the opening ceremony, the main line of the Guangzhou Foshan South Ring Intercity Railway is 35 kilometers long, with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It has five stations, including Zhangcha, Shunde North, Beijiao West, Chencun, and Panyu. The main line of the Foshan Dongguan intercity railway has a total length of 36.7 kilometers and a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It has 5 stations, including Guangzhou Changlong, Donghuan, Guanqiao North, Guangzhou Lianhuashan, and Machong. After the Guangzhou Foshan South Ring Road, Foshan Dongguan Intercity Railway, and Foshan Zhao and Dongguan Huizhou Intercity Railway are connected at Panyu Station, a 258 kilometer long east-west intercity railway corridor will be formed in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, spanning five cities: Zhaoqing, Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Huizhou. Guangzhou Metro Group, in accordance with the work deployment of the provincial government, actively leverages the advantages of rail transit operation experience, empowers "railway speed" with "subway services", and significantly improves the level of intercity railway operation services. In terms of ticketing system, it adopts the "12306+Provincial Autonomous Public Transport (AFC)" dual ticketing system to achieve "inspection integration" convenient ticketing services; In terms of transportation organization, a public transportation operation model of "stop at station+express at major stations" is implemented, and the driving organization is flexibly adjusted according to passenger flow conditions. After the implementation of the "four line connection" public transportation system, the central areas of Foshan and Dongguan have been included in the half hour commuting circle of Guangzhou, while the central areas of Zhaoqing and Huizhou have been included in the one hour commuting circle of Guangzhou, further promoting the integrated development of regional economy. After the opening of the Guangzhou Foshan South Ring Road and Foshan Dongguan Intercity Railway, the total operating mileage of the intercity railway in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area reached 575 kilometers, of which 319 kilometers were independently operated by the provincial side and 256 kilometers were commissioned to be operated by the China Railway Guangzhou Group. The intercity railway in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area has entered a new stage of networked and large-scale operation, and a new pattern of diversified supply of regional intercity rail transportation services and orderly competition among market entities is accelerating. This promotes the integration and development of multi-level rail transportation in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, leading the country and supports the achievement of higher levels of connectivity in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
