The Hong Kong Tourism Development Board announced on the 22nd that the 2024 Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Invitational will be held on the weekend after the Dragon Boat Festival in June, with over 170 teams from 12 countries and regions participating. It is reported that the competition will be held at sea outside Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon from June 15th to 16th. This year's dragon boat race also has a special "Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China Cup" competition, which will be held on the second competition day. Only teams that achieve certain results on the first competition day are eligible to participate in this competition. There will be over 4000 athletes participating in this competition. At a press conference held on the same day, Cheng Dingyi, Secretary General of the Hong Kong Tourism Development Council, revealed that during the dragon boat race, the council will launch drones and sea fireworks performances with Dragon Boat Festival elements, doubling the festive atmosphere.
