Lasso confirms the first source of super cosmic rays

2024-02-26

Scientists have discovered a giant, ultra-high energy gamma ray bubble like structure in the formation zone of the Cygnus constellation using China's High Altitude Cosmic Ray Observatory (LHAASO), and have identified candidate celestial bodies for the origin of cosmic rays with energies exceeding 100 million electron volts. This is the first confirmed super cosmic ray source by humans to date. The research was completed by the "Lasso" international cooperation group led by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the relevant results were published in the academic journal Science Bulletin on the 26th in the form of a cover article.
