The Hong Kong SAR government announced on the 15th the launch of the 2024 Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Plan, encouraging businesses to provide employment opportunities. Starting from 2024, in addition to accepting job vacancies and qualified youth applications from enterprises throughout the year, flexible measures will also be introduced to allow enterprises to apply for an extension of their youth deployment to Hong Kong or work in mainland cities outside the Greater Bay Area according to business needs, as well as to hire qualified youth who have previously held internship positions. Enterprises operating in both Hong Kong and mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area are eligible to participate in the program. Participating companies are required to hire qualified young people with a monthly salary of no less than HKD 18000 in accordance with Hong Kong laws, and send them to work and receive on-the-job training in mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. The government will provide a monthly allowance of HKD 10000 per employed youth to enterprises, for a maximum period of 18 months. Enterprises can submit job vacancies from now on, valid until December 31st, and hire Hong Kong youth to work in mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. Youth participating in the program must be Hong Kong residents who are legally employed in Hong Kong and have been awarded a bachelor's degree or higher from 2022 to 2024. (Lai Xin She)
