Leaders of Eurasian Economic Union countries sign a declaration on economic development

On the evening of the 25th, leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries held a meeting of the highest council of the Eurasian Economic Commission in St. Petersburg, Russia, and signed multiple documents such as the Economic Development Declaration, pointing out the direction for further deepening cooperation. Russian President Putin, Belarusian President Lukashenko, Kazakhstani President Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Zaparov, Armenian Prime Minister Pashnian, and others attended the meeting on the same day. Various parties discussed the cooperation achievements and future prospects of the Eurasian Economic Union in the past few years, signed declarations on the economic development plans of the Union until 2030 and 2045, documents on the main directions of the Union's international activities in 2024, and documents on the main macroeconomic policies of the Union from 2024 to 2025. Putin said at the meeting that the Economic Development Declaration is a new guiding document that specifies specific measures to strengthen cooperation in key industries and identifies new areas of interaction. He stated that in the past decade since the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union, the trade volume between member countries has almost doubled, and the total gross domestic product of each country has increased from 1.6 trillion US dollars to 2.5 trillion US dollars. In addition, representatives of the five member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union signed a comprehensive free trade agreement with representatives of the Iranian government on the same day, replacing the temporary trade agreement implemented since 2019.
