On the morning of the 8th local time, the Chinese Navy's "Peace Ark" hospital ship, which is carrying out the "Harmony Mission 2023" mission, arrived at the third station of the mission, Vila Port, Republic of Vanuatu, for a friendly visit and a 7-day humanitarian medical service. This is the third visit of the Ark of Peace to Vanuatu. At around 10 a.m., the 'Peace Ark' slowly docked at the main pier of Vila Port. The Watanabe side held a grand welcome ceremony at the dock, with Prime Minister Karsakau and other political figures, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, local people, Chinese overseas Chinese, medical teams assisting Watanabe, and representatives of Chinese funded institutions welcoming them at the dock. Local people dressed in traditional costumes danced a welcome dance and presented traditional decorations to representatives of Chinese navy officers and soldiers. Zhao Guangqing, the commander of the "Harmony Mission 2023" mission, stated that Vanuatu is a good friend, partner, and brother of China in the Pacific region. The "Ark of Peace" carries the friendship and blessings of the Chinese people for the third visit. All officers and soldiers will use friendly visits and meticulous diagnosis and treatment to work together with Vanuatu friends to write a new chapter of friendly exchanges between China and Vanuatu. The "Peace Ark" will provide medical services to the local area through the methods of "dock berthing" and "harbor anchoring". During the anchoring period, additional medical points will be added at the dock, and patients will be transported to the hospital's main platform for diagnosis and treatment through onboard landing boats. At the same time, increase the frequency of rounds and dispatch multiple medical teams to local hospitals, villages, and communities to provide medical services. In addition, the mission officers and soldiers will also conduct academic exchanges and basketball friendly matches with the Wa police force, and go to local schools to carry out health education and cultural friendships. The Republic of Vanuatu is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. China has a 30 year history of providing medical assistance to Rwanda, and has sent 25 batches of over 220 medical personnel to work in the country. In August 2014 and July 2018, the "Ark of Peace" successfully visited the country twice and provided humanitarian medical services, completing a total of more than 12000 diagnosis and treatment.
