On August 1st, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (COVID-19) announced the establishment of the first "Smart Convenience" registration service counter in Guangzhou, which facilitates Hong Kong citizens who work and live in the mainland without returning to Hong Kong. They can also register or upgrade to "Smart Convenience Plus" and enjoy the convenience of using over 280 public and private online services anytime and anywhere. From now on, Hong Kong citizens with Hong Kong identity card can go to the "Smart Convenience Plus" registration service counter in the lobby of the second floor of the Guangzhou Municipal Government Affairs Service Center in Zhujiang New Town to register or upgrade "Smart Convenience Plus" during service hours. The service hours of the counter are from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 12pm, and from 1pm to 5pm, excluding holidays. For details and registration preparations, please visit the "Smart Convenience" website at www.iamsmart.gov.hk/tc/reg.html. The spokesman of the Information Technology Office said that he sincerely appreciated the strong support of the Government Affairs Service Data Management Bureau of Guangdong Province (the Government Affairs Bureau). The Information Technology Office will continue to discuss with the Government Affairs Bureau of Guangdong Province to set up more "smart and convenient" self-service registration stations in mainland cities of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, so as to promote the "cross-border access" of government services in the Greater Bay Area. Since its launch at the end of 2020, the "Smart Convenience" one-stop personalized digital service platform has registered over 2.17 million people. Users can authenticate with a single digital identity through their personal mobile phone and log in to various online services. Popular online services include the Voucher Scheme, the Central Organ donation Register, My Government One Stop Access, "Tax Easy", non touch e-way, renewal of vehicle license plate, medical health access and two electricity and one coal. The "Smart Convenience" Mobile app supports iOS and Android operating systems and mobile phones with biometric authentication enabled. Citizens can download and use it for free in the Apple App Store, Huawei Application Market, Google Play or the "Smart Convenience" website (www.iamsmart. gov.hk/tc/download.html). (New News Agency)
