On June 17, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) made new progress in scientific research, scientific and technological innovation, and industry university research transformation in the past year. Among them, 7 provincial and municipal key laboratories have officially been put into use. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), located in Nansha, Guangzhou, officially opened on September 1, 2022, and is the first mainland and Hong Kong joint university with independent legal personality since the construction of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. At the Innovation Carnival held by the school on the 16th, Ni Mingxuan, president of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), introduced that the school has introduced nearly 200 high-level academic talents from world-famous universities, attracted more than 800 graduate students to study, explored and practiced many innovative measures of talent training and teaching reform, and graduate students have won medals in international competitions for many times. Ni Mingxuan said that the school attaches great importance to scientific research, technological innovation, and the transformation of industry, academia, and research. In the past year, the school has been approved for more than 100 government funded research projects at all levels, has engaged in industry university research docking with hundreds of enterprises, signed cooperation agreements with more than 70 leading enterprises and well-known research institutions, and established joint laboratories with nearly 10 industry leaders. Significant progress has been made in industry university research cooperation and research platform construction. On the day of the Chuangke Carnival, 7 provincial and municipal key laboratories of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) held a launching ceremony simultaneously. This includes one Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory, namely the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Cross integration and ubiquitous Internet of Things, six Guangzhou Municipal Key Laboratories, such as the Guangzhou Key Laboratory for Global Interconnection and Networking Intelligence, and the Guangzhou Key Laboratory for Materials Informatics.
