Panama is located at the border of North and South America, and the Panama Canal is an important channel connecting two oceans and two continents, known as the "World Bridge". The origin of China and Panama can be traced back to the 1850s, when about tens of thousands of Chinese people were recruited to Panama to build railways and excavate canals. On November 12, 2021, the government of the Republic of Panama announced that starting from 2022, the Chinese Lunar New Year will be designated as a national holiday in Panama, and the Spring Festival celebration will be integrated into Panama's international tourism promotion plan.
