On November 22, more than 300 volunteers of the Olive Green Veterans Volunteer Service Team in Jimo District, Qingdao, Shandong Province, worked tirelessly for half a year to carefully draw the "Distribution Map for the Protection of Martyrs' Tombs Buried in Jimo District". So far, 173 martyr tombs scattered in 109 villages in Jimo District have all been provided with coordinates, protection signs and heroic deeds. Jimo District, Qingdao, is a red city in Jiaodong. In the revolutionary war years, countless heroic men and women emerged. From May to June 1949, during the Qingji Campaign, the PLA officers and soldiers were not afraid of sacrifice and fought bravely, completely destroying the Kuomintang's rule in Shandong and North China, and liberating Shandong's land. In the tense battlefield environment, the people of Jiaodong spontaneously buried the sacrificed soldiers in the village ancestral tombs and houses. "Every martyr should be remembered, and every martyr's tomb should be better protected." In May this year, Jimo District Veterans Affairs Bureau and District People's Armed Forces Department jointly formed a volunteer service team composed of more than 300 veterans. In the past six months, the volunteer service team has traveled more than 2000 kilometers, traveled through towns and villages in Jimo District, took hundreds of location photos, and finally drew the "Distribution Map of Protection of Martyrs' Tombs Buried Separately in Jimo District", marked the specific locations of 173 Martyrs' Tombs Buried Separately in Jimo District, and left family information and the contact number of the protectors on the distribution map. During the mapping survey, volunteers thoroughly cleaned the tombs of the scattered martyrs and checked and maintained them one by one. "Martyrs' tombs have been buried separately for a long time, so it is not easy to find them." Dai Peixu, the leader of the volunteer service team, said with deep feelings, "Due to the custom of burying the dead in high mountains in Jiaodong, some scattered martyrs' tombs are on mountains far away from villages, and vehicles cannot reach them. Volunteers can only carry shovels and pickaxes on foot. Sometimes they often walk more than ten miles to find a martyr's tomb." When looking for a tomb for scattered martyrs in Tianheng Town, it was impossible to confirm for a while because the outline of the tomb was unclear, the stone tablet was damaged, and the elderly people in the village who knew about it had died. To this end, the members of the volunteer service team went door to door and finally found an elderly woman who married in a neighboring village and identified the specific location of the martyr's tomb. They set up tombstones for the martyrs at their own expense and arranged volunteers to guard them. During their visit to Aoshanwei Town, they found an unregistered martyr's tomb, and there was no clue in the local search. Later, with the help of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Veterans Affairs, it was found that the martyr was Li Xinfang, a native of Bijie, Guizhou. Relatives in the martyrs' hometown only knew that Li Xinfang had died in Jimo, Qingdao, and had never found the martyrs' cemetery. The Bureau of Retired Soldiers Affairs of Jimo District included Li Xinfang's martyr's grave in the protection list, and contacted the Bureau of Retired Soldiers Affairs of Bijie City, Guizhou Province, to inform that the martyr's grave had been found. On this basis, Jimo District Veterans Affairs Bureau and the volunteer service team visited the families of the martyrs respectively, compiled the deeds of 173 martyrs into a book, and set up protection boards in each martyr cemetery. More than 300 volunteers have assigned people, positions and responsibilities to guard the martyrs' tombs in a regular manner, so that each tomb of the scattered martyrs can be well protected. Ding Tuansen, deputy leader of the Veterans Volunteer Service Team, is responsible for Daxin Street, Lancun Street and Duanpolan Town in Jimo District, which are the most densely buried martyrs' tombs
