Wear a helmet, wear anti snake boots, and hold a machete and a wooden stick. Recently, Zhang Nengyu once again "dressed up" and led young employees to Chongqing Wulong line inspection station where he had worked for many years to inspect and maintain the transmission line. After retiring from the Qinghai Armed Police Corps in 1996, Zhang Nengyu became a line maintenance worker of Chongqing Changshou power supply company of the State Grid. Although the work of dealing with cement poles, power transmission towers and conductors every day is hard and boring, Zhang Nengyu still strictly demands himself: "these poles and piles connect thousands of families. Although I am only an ordinary line patrol worker, I will also strive to be the vanguard of the lights of thousands of families." In 2001, the State Grid extended to Southeast Chongqing for the first time, and Wulong line inspection station was established. At the age of 27, Zhang Nengyu volunteered to become the head of Wulong line inspection station, responsible for the inspection of transmission lines in 8 districts and counties in Wuling mountain area. It is called "line patrol station", but there is no "station". Before Zhang Nengyu's eyes, there are towering mountains. In order to grasp the first-hand information of the circuit inspection as soon as possible, Zhang Nengyu, carrying a tool kit weighing more than 40 Jin, opened the way with a machete and set off on foot deep into the mountains. In 45 days, he walked 290 kilometers of mountain roads, inspected 587 transmission towers, worn out 3 pairs of rubber shoes, and smoothly found out the direction of the line. In addition to the difficult working environment, Zhang Nengyu often faced unimaginable dangers when patrolling the line in the rugged and inaccessible mountains. During a patrol inspection in the rain, he was driving on a muddy mountain road. Suddenly, there was a landslide in front of the mountain, and a huge rock rolled down. At the critical moment, Zhang Nengyu quickly opened the car door, jumped out with an arrow and rushed to the side of the mountain. The boulder hit the engineering vehicle and rolled into the bottomless canyon. "If I hadn't honed and trained in the army, I wouldn't have been able to react so quickly." Recalling the past, Zhang Nengyu sighed, "my experience as a soldier saved my life!" Climbing trees and vines, getting lost in the deep forest... During the 11 years of working in Wulong line inspection station, Zhang Nengyu led team members to inspect more than 5 million kilometers of lines, and investigated more than 7000 hidden dangers. "I have been a soldier. Wuling Mountain is my battlefield. Even if there is danger, I will win the battle!" Zhang Nengyu said. "Sometimes it's more difficult to deal with 'human feelings' at work." In 2011, when Zhang Nengyu accepted a section of 220 kV high-voltage line, he found that the distance between conductors and the ground was less than 5 meters, which failed to meet the specified requirements. "A lack of feet and meters means a potential safety hazard. How can we afford the people in the mountains if we can't hold this pass?" In the face of the construction party's hard work, Zhang Nengyu stuck to the principle and resolutely refused to pass. As a "line patrol expert", Zhang Nengyu did not forget to "teach and guide". After taking the management post, he often led young employees to carry out field operations and impart experience face-to-face. The "apprentices" he brought out were all good line patrol workers. In 2012, with the support of the company, Zhang Nengyu established his own innovation studio. He applied his years of experience in line inspection and troubleshooting to his work, studied with young employees, obtained 10 national invention patents, and built the studio into an innovative "gas station". "The purpose of power line patrol is to protect the light. As a party member and a veteran, I hope to pass on more‘
