On April 7, events were held throughout Rwanda to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the Holocaust. From April to July 1994, there were large-scale violent conflicts between Tutsi and Hutu tribes in Rwanda. A total of 500000 to 1 million people were slaughtered, most of them Tutsi. The United Nations designated April 7 as the "international day for reflection on the Rwandan Massacre" and renamed it "international day for reflection on the 1994 Rwandan massacre against Tutsi" in 2018.
