According to the National Medical Insurance Administration on January 2nd, 282 coordinated regions have implemented the reform of DRG/DIP medical insurance payment methods, accounting for 71% of the total number of coordinated regions. Among them, all coordinated regions under 12 provinces including Beijing and Hebei have already started DRG/DIP payment. Since 2019, the National Medical Insurance Administration has launched a pilot program for payment based on disease diagnosis related groups (DRG) and disease specific value (DIP), promoting the work of a diversified and composite payment method mainly based on disease specific payment. According to the three-year action plan for DRG/DIP payment method reform that has been issued, summarize and promote the effective practices of DRG/DIP payment national pilot projects from 2019 to 2021, accelerate the full coverage of DRG/DIP medical insurance payment method reform, and aim to carry out DRG/DIP payment method reform in all coordinated regions of the country by the end of 2024. By the end of 2025, DRG/DIP payment method will cover all eligible medical institutions providing inpatient services. The National Medical Insurance Administration introduced that the overall progress in the country is currently faster than the phased task goals, and some regions have already completed the full coverage tasks required by the three-year action plan ahead of schedule. The individual burden level in actual paid areas has generally decreased, and the same disease type and price in the same city at the grassroots level have improved the convenience of medical treatment for the public.
