The Jingxiong Expressway is fully connected today! 1 hour from Beijing to Xiong'an

2023-12-28

On December 28, the Fifth Ring Road to the Sixth Ring Road of Beijing-Xiongan expressway (Beijing Section) was successfully completed. So far, the whole line of Beijing-Xiongan expressway (Beijing Section) has been officially opened to traffic, and it can be reached within one hour by driving from the Fifth Ring Road in the southwest of Beijing to Xiong'an New Area. The main line of Beijing-Xiongan expressway is about 97 kilometers long, including 27 kilometers in Beijing and 70 kilometers in Hebei. The Beijing section runs in a north-south direction, spanning areas such as Daxing, Fangshan, and Fengtai, and adopts a dual eight lane design. There is one super large bridge on the entire line - Jingxiong Bridge, four elevated bridges, five interchanges, and the first main toll station on a land elevated bridge in Beijing - Fangshan North Station. Previously, the Beijing section from the Sixth Ring Road to the City Boundary was opened for operation at the end of 2022. The total length of the Fifth Ring Road to the Sixth Ring Road section opened this time is 14.8 kilometers, starting from the Fifth Ring Road in the north and ending at the Sixth Ring Road in the south, connecting with the Sixth Ring Road to the City Boundary section opened at the end of last year and the existing Hebei section of the Jingxiong Expressway. At this point, the entire Jingxiong Expressway is open to traffic. As a control project for the entire Jingxiong Expressway, the Jingxiong Bridge was completed on June 17, 2023, setting a new record for single span bridges in Beijing. The bridge adopts a flying swallow style arch bridge structure, with the arch connected by wind braces in the shape of a "Chinese knot", symbolizing the close connection and coordinated development between Beijing and Xiong'an. In addition, the first mainline toll station on a land elevated bridge in Beijing, Fangshan North Station, which has been opened this time, innovatively adopts a bridge split design to achieve separate passage of fast and slow trains and passenger and freight vehicles, improving traffic efficiency; Taking into account the high traffic flow and obvious tidal phenomena at the main toll plaza of Beijing's expressways, a tidal lane has been set up at the toll plaza of Fangshan North Station. When the one-way traffic volume in and out of Beijing reaches 6000 vehicles per hour, it will be put into use, further improving traffic efficiency. As a demonstration "smart highway" in China, the entire Jingxiong Expressway (Beijing section) has achieved full coverage of 5G private network. By establishing a smart high-speed monitoring center and utilizing high-precision positioning, high-precision digital maps, and variable information signs from BeiDou, not only can vehicle owners be provided with vehicle road communication, high-precision navigation, and warning services, but also monitoring and warning of various meteorological disasters such as rain, fog, ice, and snow can be achieved. It is understood that after the full opening and operation of the Jingxiong Expressway, it will become the most convenient direct expressway connecting the capital Beijing to Xiong'an New Area. Together with the Beijing Hong Kong Macao and Daguang Highways, it will form a convenient, smooth, functionally complementary, and safe and reliable regional expressway network, providing strong transportation service guarantees to support the construction and development of Xiong'an New Area, promote the relocation of non capital functions in Beijing, and promote the coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei.
