The National Health Commission held a press conference today to introduce the prevention and treatment of winter respiratory diseases. According to Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission and Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, recently, the overall diagnosis and treatment volume of respiratory diseases in outpatient and emergency departments of medical institutions across the country continues to show a fluctuating downward trend. Mi Feng said that on December 22, the total diagnosis and treatment volume of respiratory diseases in outpatient and emergency departments of medical institutions at or above the second level nationwide decreased by 8.2% compared to the same period last week and 30.02% from the peak period. We need to further closely monitor the trends, pathogen changes, and virus mutations of respiratory diseases both domestically and internationally, and strengthen situation analysis and monitoring and early warning. Further expand medical resources, ensure drug supply, and improve diagnosis and treatment efficiency. Further strengthen the management of classified and graded health services for key populations, and ensure proper vaccination. Peng Zhibin, Director of the Respiratory Infectious Disease Department of the Infectious Disease Management Office of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that acute respiratory diseases in China have begun to decline recently. The number of fever outpatient visits in medical institutions nationwide and the proportion of influenza like cases in outpatient and emergency departments in sentinel hospitals have decreased. Overall, the current trend of acute respiratory diseases is dominated by influenza virus and co prevalent with various other pathogens. Among them, influenza activity is currently at a high level, but has begun to show a downward trend. Mycoplasma pneumoniae, adenovirus, respiratory syncytial virus and other pathogens showed fluctuations, and COVID-19 activity was at the lowest level since this year. Experts believe that in the next week, acute respiratory diseases may continue to decline, with influenza virus as the main pathogen. (Lai Xin She)
