China's first ocean drilling vessel, the "Dream", has made its debut, while also revealing a major scientific dream it carries: drilling through the crust and entering the mantle. The first ocean drilling vessel independently designed and built by China, "Dream", was officially named on the 18th and underwent its first trial voyage in Nansha, Guangzhou. "The 'Dream' ocean drilling vessel is a major technological innovation project deployed by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with overall equipment and comprehensive operational capabilities at an international leading level. The reporter learned from on-site interviews that ocean drilling is known as the "crown" of ocean technology, and the "Moho surface" that penetrates the interface between the crust and mantle reflects the gold content of the "crown". The mantle accounts for 4/5 of the Earth's volume and 3/4 of its mass, making it the largest "chemical reservoir" on Earth, full of unsolved mysteries. Drilling through the crust, penetrating the Moho surface, and entering the upper mantle are human scientific dreams. It is reported that the Moho surface is about 30-40 kilometers below the mainland and 6-7 kilometers below the ocean, so ocean drilling is expected to open the door of treasure for earth science research. The Dream has a drilling capability of 11000 meters in the sea, equivalent to the depth of the Mariana Trench.
