Li Qiang Attends the 26th China ASEAN Leaders' Meeting

On the morning of September 6th local time, Premier Li Qiang attended the 26th China ASEAN (10+1) Leaders' Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia. Indonesian President Joko, Lao Prime Minister Song Sai, Brunei Sultan Hassanal, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manai, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, Philippine President Marcos, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Myung jung, Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Saram, and ASEAN observer Timor-Leste Prime Minister Chanana attended the meeting. ASEAN Secretary General Gao Jinhong attended. For the past 10 years, China and ASEAN have adhered to sincere treatment, mutual assistance, mutual benefit, coordination and inclusiveness, worked together to achieve mutual success, and successfully embarked on the correct path of long-term good-neighborly friendship, common development and prosperity in the century long changing world situation. Li Qiang proposed four suggestions for building a closer China ASEAN community with a shared future: firstly, work together to create an economic growth center, strengthen connectivity, and deepen industrial chain supply chain cooperation. The second is to work together to promote cooperation in emerging industries and strengthen cooperation in fields such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and artificial intelligence. The third is to work together to maintain regional peace and tranquility, actively promote negotiations on the text of the "South China Sea Code of Conduct", and carry out cooperation in combating telecommunications network fraud. Fourthly, we will work together to expand cultural and cultural exchanges and further strengthen cooperation in areas such as culture, tourism, training, and youth. Li Qiang emphasized that China and ASEAN are inseparable good neighbors, good brothers, and good partners. China is willing to uphold the original aspiration of unity and self-improvement with ASEAN countries, uphold the spirit of win-win cooperation, and build our common home of peace, tranquility, prosperity, beauty, and friendship. The leaders of participating ASEAN countries warmly welcomed Premier Li Qiang and highly praised the achievements of ASEAN China cooperation. They expressed that the ASEAN China comprehensive strategic partnership has brought great benefits to the people of the region and promoted regional peace, development, and stability. ASEAN countries are willing to further enhance mutual trust with China, strengthen docking with the "the Belt and Road" initiative, deepen cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, digital economy, science and technology, education, culture and other fields, and work together to address global challenges such as climate change. ASEAN countries welcome progress in formulating the "South China Sea Code of Conduct" and look forward to the early completion of negotiations on upgrading the ASEAN China Free Trade Area to jointly host the 20th China ASEAN Expo. They are willing to work with China to seize opportunities, address challenges, and build an ASEAN China community with a shared future. The meeting issued a joint statement on the "the Belt and Road" initiative and ASEAN India Pacific mutually beneficial cooperation, and adopted the "China ASEAN Joint Statement on Deepening Agricultural Cooperation", "China ASEAN Action Plan for Green Agricultural Development (2023-2027)", "China ASEAN Initiative on Strengthening E-commerce Cooperation", "Joint Initiative on Jointly Promoting the Implementation of China ASEAN Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Plan" and other outcome documents, Welcome to sign the China ASEAN Technical Cooperation Agreement and declare 2024 as the "China ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year".
