On February 8, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress issued a statement on the passage of the "US competition act 2022" by the US House of Representatives. The full text is as follows: The "US competition act 2022" recently passed by the US House of Representatives is full of cold war thinking and ideological prejudice, slanders and discredits China's development path and domestic and foreign policies, advocates strategic competition with China, and interferes in China's internal affairs through issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Tibet. China's National People's Congress expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this. The bill is called enhancing the competitiveness of the United States. In fact, it aims to curb and suppress China's innovation and development and maintain the global hegemony of the United States. How the United States improves its competitiveness is its own business. Taking China as a strategic competitor everywhere will only undermine China US mutual trust, seriously undermine China US cooperation in economy, trade, education, science and technology, and will also damage its own interests. The relevant Taiwan related provisions of the bill seriously violate the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques. Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong and other affairs are purely China's internal affairs and allow no foreign interference. China will resolutely and forcefully fight back against any evil act that attempts to interfere in China's internal affairs and harm China's interests. Mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation are the correct way for China and the United States to get along in the new era. We strongly urge the US Congress to view China's development objectively and rationally, immediately stop promoting the bill and take practical actions to safeguard the overall situation of bilateral relations.
