2024-04-26

On April 16th, the Hong Kong Productivity Council held a meeting on "Empowering Enterprises towards Advanced Manufacturing through Industrial Artificial Intelligence". The conference focuses on intelligent manufacturing and generative artificial intelligence, aiming to fully promote the application and development of industrial artificial intelligence and robots, and assist enterprise production. "New quality productivity injects new impetus into the high-quality development of Hong Kong's economy. Hong Kong must leverage its strong research and development capabilities, advantages of an internationalized and market-oriented economy, and a sound intellectual property protection system to develop advanced manufacturing industries." said Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The "Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint" released by the Hong Kong SAR government clearly states that it will strengthen support for the development of strategic industries. Artificial intelligence is a key driving factor for industrial transformation, and relevant departments have reserved HKD 3 billion to launch the "Artificial Intelligence Funding Program" to assist local universities, research institutions, and enterprises in applying and developing artificial intelligence technology. In the future, relevant departments will continue to work together with various sectors to promote the adoption of digital strategies for upgrading and transformation in the industry, and to promote Hong Kong to become a more livable and economically vibrant smart city. It is reported that multiple keynote speeches and roundtable forums were held during the conference, covering cutting-edge topics such as intelligent manufacturing, global "lighthouse factories," digital factories, and generative artificial intelligence. "Industrial artificial intelligence has profound transformative potential and is deeply empowering the world's advanced manufacturing industry," said Chen Zuheng, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. "The Hong Kong Productivity Council will actively explore how artificial intelligence can promote the deep integration of global 'lighthouse factories', value chains, and business models, helping the manufacturing industry embrace the new era of industrialization." The conference attracted professional scholars, industry experts, and business representatives from home and abroad to participate. In addition, the conference also showcased innovative products, services, and solutions for artificial intelligence and robotics. (Lai Xin She)
